Since 1992, Blakemore Foundation Fellowships have supported a full academic year of intensive study of Asian languages in East and Southeast Asia. That sustained immersion gives Fellows the time and focus to develop the advanced, professional-level language proficiency needed to work bilingually.

More than 550 Blakemore Foundation Fellows have carried advanced Asian language fluency into careers in business, public service, law, journalism, research, education, medicine, the arts, and beyond.
Their fellowships did more than help them study a language. They created a foundation for professional careers, meaningful relationships, and cross-cultural understanding that continue well beyond their Fellowship year.

Why support is needed now
Federal support for international education and language study has declined, and its long-term future remains uncertain. Yet the need for people who can work fluently across languages and cultures continues to grow.
Each year, Blakemore Foundation receives far more qualified applications than it can fund. The Alumni Fellowship Fund brings together gifts from alumni, board members, and friends to help extend this extraordinary opportunity to more exceptional candidates.

What Your Gift Makes Possible
Blakemore Foundation is a tax-exempt organization under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Contributions are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Gift amounts and expense descriptions are illustrative. Gifts made through this page go to the Alumni Fellowship Fund and are pooled to support future Blakemore Foundation Fellowships. They are not restricted to the specific expense shown.
